Calcium
Vital for healthy blood, bones, teeth and muscles.
Calcium may help reduce the likelihood of bone loss associated with the serious bone
disease, osteoporosis -- a health concern of many.
Selenium
An essential trace mineral which
works to neutralize unstable substances in your body called free
radicals that can cause oxidative stress and damage to cells. Selenium
helps promote cell repair in the lungs and other organs and also helps
promote healthy immune system function.
Iron
An important component of hemoglobin, enables red
blood cells to transport oxygen throughout the body. Iron is important for healthier
blood. Some women may need extra iron during menstruation or pregnancy.
Magnesium
An essential mineral that assists in the absorption
and metabolism of calcium, sodium, phosphorus and potassium. It also helps the body
utilize B-Complex, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It is necessary for proper bone growth and
maintenance, and for the proper functioning of the muscles and nerves.
Co Q-10
Co Q-10 is an antioxidant that helps protect you
from "free radical" effects that can lead to premature aging. And while Co Q-10
as an antioxidant promotes healthy cells by protecting against oxidation, it has the
important added benefit of promoting cellular regeneration.
Glucosamine
A compound naturally formed in the body which plays
an important role in the repair and maintenance of cartilage. Glucosamine helps maintain
healthy, mobile joint function and connective tissue health.
Folic Acid
The U.S. Public Health Service recommends Folic Acid
for women of childbearing age to help guard against certain birth defects. In fact, it is
estimated that up to half of all serious birth defects could be prevented if women
consumed the U.S. RDA of folic acid.
Vitamin E
An antioxidant that helps protect you from unhealthy
oxidative "free radicals" that can lead to premature aging. Vitamin E also
contributes to healthy skin and helps to promote healthy circulatory function.
Vitamin C

for healthy cells and body systems. Vitamin C is vital to the production of the collagen
molecules necessary for the development of the connective tissue in blood vessels, skin,
ligaments and bones. Vitamin C needs to be replaced in your system every day.

What
are antioxidants? Antioxidants are nutrients that help to protect the body from damage by "free
radicals", which are unstable molecules in the body that are created by environmental
and some dietary factors.
Who should
supplement their diet with antioxidants?
If you smoke, live in an especially polluted
environment, or experience a great deal of stress, you may be more vulnerable to free
radical damage.
Which supplements are used as antioxidants?
Supplements that have antioxidant activity include: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta-Carotene,
and the mineral Selenium.
When should I take my Vitamins?
Vitamins and other supplements need to go through
your digestive system to reach your bloodstream, and they'll do so most effectively if you
take your supplements with meals. Also, some of the water-soluble vitamins -Vitamin C in
particular- are needed so constantly by your body and eliminated so quickly that it makes
sense to take them more than once a day. Some nutritionists recommend that you take
Vitamin C morning and evening, every day.
Do some vitamins work even better when
combined together? Yes, Vitamin C and Iron: Vitamin C has been shown to
aid in the body's absorption of Iron. Vitamin D and Calcium: Vitamin D assists in bone mineralization by assisting your body in
using Calcium. Vitamin C, Beta-Carotene, Selenium and Vitamin E: These antioxidant vitamins all protect against free radicals, but each does so for
different body systems. Vitamin E in particular has been shown in studies to enhance the
action of other antioxidant factors.
This is just a sampling of "vitamin synergies". There are many books on
nutrition that can tell you more about these combinations!
